7 May 2009
Jenny Macklin MP, Member for Jagajaga, today announced that seven local primary schools in Jagajaga will receive $11.2 million for major new infrastructure projects under Round One of the Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) program.
“It is wonderful to see our local schools and our local community benefit from the Government’s huge investment in new school buildings,” Ms Macklin said.
Construction and refurbishment work will commence as soon as possible. Many of the projects are planned to begin this month and will provide immediate support for local jobs and communities.
“By investing in our local schools, the Rudd Government is helping to keep local contractors, tradies, truck drivers and small businesses working during these difficult days while providing infrastructure which will benefit school students for years to come.”
The seven local schools to receive funding are:
Banyule Primary School $2,000,000
Bellfield Primary School $750,000
Bundoora Primary School $2,000,000
Eltham East Primary School $3,000,000
Haig Street Primary School $750,000
Olympic Village Primary School $750,000
St Bernadette’s Parish School $2,000,000

This first Round is for 20% of projects, while further successful school projects will be announced in the coming months.
